We’re Having Another COVID Safe PROPER Thanksgiving Everyone!

Join us on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 25th from Noon to 4PM at Celebration Tabernacle located at 8131 N. Denver Ave, Portland OR 97217.

The Proper Thanksgiving Feast-ival is a beloved Kenton tradition for over 20 years. In fact, this will be the 22nd year of us offering a home-away-from-home Thanksgiving community meal! The Proper Thanksgiving Feast-ival is completely FREE and open to everyone! Whether you come every year, or you’re joining us for the first time, we will be glad to see you.

We have historically featured music, entertainment, kids’ activities, an inclusive community experience, and great food.  However, again this year, due to COVID-19, we will provide our home style meal made with love in to go boxes.  You can take as much food with you as you like.  There again will be no sit down dining this year.  Bring your masks.  However, if you don’t have any with you, we will have plenty of masks to hand out, as well as hand sanitizer available.

We partner with local restaurants to bring you a fresh and delicious Thanksgiving feast. In 2021, we’re pleased to announce that we’re partnering once again with Po’Shines Cafe de la Soul! We’ll have an awesome team bring you a top-quality menu, carefully composed of traditional Thanksgiving favorites and innovative new dishes. We offer vegetarian options too!

Proper depends on our neighbors to support our mission of uniting community across all lines. We receive support from local businesses, community foundations, individual donors, and volunteers. If you or your organization would like to get involved with Proper, we look forward to speaking with you.

Proper is committed to a diverse Kenton as part of our greater mission. Like all Proper events, the Proper Thanksgiving Feast-ival is a safe space for all community members, regardless of race, class, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, ability, nation of origin, age, or religion.

Big thank you to Celebration Tabernacle!

Pastor Mondaine, you founded this dinner.  If it wasn’t for you it it wouldn’t exist!  Thank you for your visionary leadership and your loving heart.

Pastor Tamara Tolbert, thank you for the love and effort you put into cooking this Thanksgiving dinner with James. You’re absolutely amazing!

Stephanie, thank you for being such a solid rock in helping, and not needing the spotlight.  We notice your efforts, and we appreciate you!

Pastor Antjuan, thank you so much for your design contributions to this dinner!  Without you, our posters and flyers would look terrible, and we wouldn’t even have our logo.  Thank you sir.

Special thanks also to Julia Chenoweth, Amy Close and family, Nadine Bolden, James Ortega, Neleh Chenoweth, Ms. Donna Wade etc.  Can’t imagine doing this without you guys!
